Remove Metadata

Title, author, subject, keywords, creator, and producer fields are all cleared, along with any custom Info dictionary fields a PDF might carry (e.g. an internal tracking ID some tools add) and the embedded XMP metadata stream, if the file has one — Adobe- and Office-authored PDFs commonly duplicate author/title/software info there even after the standard fields are cleared, so this tool removes that stream too.

PDFs often carry hidden info about who created or edited them — useful to strip before sharing publicly.

It covers the Info dictionary (including custom fields) and the XMP metadata stream, which is where most identifying information lives. It does not currently touch embedded file attachments, form field default values, annotation/comment author names, or the document ID pair in the file trailer — if your document contains any of those and they matter for your use case, you may want to check them separately.
